about

These are two favorite Border tunes that I often teach to my students. Scottish piper and professor Gary West taught 'Linkum Doddie' at the Vermont Bellowspipe & Fiddle School in 2010. 'Jenny Nettles' has long been heard at local smallpipe sessions here in Vermont, though usually without the fourth part. These tunes seem to enjoy Southern flavoring, and so were chosen as token representatives from the 'Old World'. (Normally these tunes would be played in the key of A, but have been transposed to C on this track for the sake of variety on this album.)
