about

Thanks to the consistent 4/4 rhythm of clawhammer banjo playing, 6/8 tunes are relatively rare in old-time music. These tunes are typically heard at slower tempos, but for this take they seemed to enjoy a more jiggy status. Notably, 'Chapel Hill Serenade' originated in Scotland as the dance tune 'New Rigg'd Ship'.
